  1. In art, the Greeks established a form which had to be followed. Even to the extent that they measured the distance from the forehead to the eyes and from the eyes to the bottom of the chin and the shape and size of the body. It became a system of establishing beauty in their art. Likewise, in their architecture they had established forms. The ionic, the doric and the corinthian. These were not merely styles, they were formulas. In life they felt that if an individual maintained balance in all things, he would achieve perfection. In all of this the Greeks sought perfection as the ultimate goal of life.
