  1. Compared to our CAFOs and factory farms, the third world is not much of a factor.

  2. It always boggles me how little people know about ruminents (cows, sheep, goats, ect).

Here in the U.S. there is the giant government sponsored "corn machine."  We are pretty much the only country who stuffs their cattle, both dairy and beef full of corn.

Cattle are not designed to eat corn.  A healthy cows ruminent PH should be neutral.  We stuff them full of corn, and give them a SERRIOUSLY acidic stomach.  So bad in fact the cows cannot live beyond a few years, before their stomach deterorates, and their liver fails.

This stuff of cattle full of corn is what contributes to all the methane problems.

Cattle kept naturally on pasture produce no more methane than any other wild bovine, like bison.

By the way...the numbers of domestic kept cattle here in the U.S. are about the same as the numbers of wild bison that use to roam the U.S.

There is no reason for devoloping countries to offset their cattles methane.  Many of them still graze their cattle in ways that are very healthy for the environment.  That means having no perminat pastures, but rather continously moving their stock from place to place.  That way of life actually mimics natural ecosystems, where the wild animals would graze for a while in an area, leaving behind valuable manure, and then moving on to new fodder.

The whole cow/methane thing is something that is pushed here in the U.S. by PETA, to try and force everyone to become a vegan...not just vegatarian, but vegan.  PETA is listed as a terrorist organization by the FBI.

If you really are interested how the cycle works, I sugest you read the The Omnivores Delimma, by Michael Pollan.  A very interesting book that will give you VERY good insights into how the Government/corn/cow thing works.

  3. they are using for century's all that theirs flock produces.

  4. They have such a small carbon footprint compared to you it isn't even funny.   Drive to the store half a mile down the road?   You've used more fossil fuel energy than they will in an entire year.
