It depends on where you are and who you hang out with.  All the Russians I know can drink a lot.  That does not mean they do all the time.  The young people go to the clubs a lot (they are called cafe's and are mostly places to eat and drink - they really go a lot during Futbol season).

In Moscow there are dance clubs and stuff - in most of the major cities there are some of these.

It's just like here - some people love to party and some prefer to just go out once in a while - but the ones that do party party a lot.

One thing that's different there - no one drives drunk.  You loose you liscense for life and go straight to jail if you do.  When I was there in June there was a big story on the news about some teens about 10 hours away from where we were that drove drunk and crashed their car - they didn't hurt anyone, but it was a big story there, cause no one does it.

they have very nice looking girls, though i cant tell anything about their education.

Unclear what "party animals" and "field mice" is you mean by it but you should go to Norilsk in Krasnoyarsk Krai! It is very major party environment, I think you will love it... especially if you are American, they love Americans.

People in Russia are the same as people everywhere on earth.   75% are "A" holes, 10% mind their own business, 10% don't have a clue, and 5% are cool.

   Strangely Russians can be deep idiots mainly in the glubina, far from any civilization - and run away when a stranger approaches them and other one be REALLY fantastic in all human fields -

   My experience of Russia is based on 50/50 - 50 % of russians are desperately stupid and/or make you loose your time ( militzia hurrah )

and 50 other % are wonderful warm, curious,witty, artist, know-all people -

  So two tips : before you go to Russia buy sport shoes in order to run away in the first 50% case, and many small podarki ( presents ) from your country for the  other 50% - they will like it and cover you with books, candies, pictures etc before you go - if you're spontaneous and good people, can have with russians unforgettable friendly exeriences.

they get more wild and crazy then american can get.
