my partner is skipping school so he doesn't have to do this debate. (i think) so i'm on my own now.

thanks.

  1. See - Here's the problem with global warming.  There is currently no spreading of any disease now or anytime in the past.

The thought that "global warming" spreads diseases is just one more of those things that pseudo scientist claim "might", "could", "probably", "may" happen that never does.  The trouble is no forgets these doomsday predictions no matter how far fetched they are.

This is the true danger of "global warming"

  2. In order to develop arguments that are at least marginally supportable, which I haven't seen so far in any of the previous answers, you need to figure out what people are saying might be realistic in terms of diseases that will spread due to global warming.  The best place to start in this task is here:

    http://www.ipcc.ch/pdf/assessment-report...

which is a link to the relevant chapter from the IPCC WG2 discussing possible human health impacts.  Once you understand what is thought to be possible, you can start to form some rational arguments for why the IPCC overestimated these probabilities.  I would be very hesitant to use any of the arguments presented so far.  If your opponent is good and you use them, they will take you apart.

If I were in your position, I would focus on Dengue Fever (page 403 of the above link), since it has the potential to affect the most people, is fairly lethal, and is the one that everyone uses as the "poster-child" for climate/disease since it is tropical and unlike malaria, not originally endemic globally.  If you can make a persuasive case that Dengue won't be affected by global warming, you're pretty much taken the wind out of the sails of the whole idea.  To be honest, this is a challenging task and I don't think you can do it without lying your *** off, to be frank.  But if I were going to try and show climate change wouldn't affect the global distribution of diseases, I would start with dengue.

  3. I would be amazed if anyone could prove that diseases ARE caused by Global Warming.  Really, what GARBAGE is being pushed in schools these days?

What diseases in particular is anyone claiming are caused by GW?  I'll add to my answer after your response.

  4. Diseases are spread through the poorer countries. The richer countries are able to deal with the issue. When have you seen a major malaria, etc in the USA?

Temperature is not the primary factor in disease. Economic status (cleanliness). Some of the worst outbreaks of disease have happened in cooler regions of the world. No current outbreak can be attributed to global warming. This is a scare tactic only with no data to back it up. The media and others have thrown scientific analysis out the door in order to advance their agenda. The data does not back their desired outcome, so they simply make up theories with no science to back it up.

  5. I got one for you.  As the glaciers melt they are releasing trapped air pockets that have been sealed up for hundreds of thousands of years.

Who knows what ancient " spores of death " will be released into our atmosphere.  We cannot take the risk.  I think we should all start living like we did in the stone age.

All the troubles humans have suffered throughout the ages started right about the time that we learned to forge iron.

We all need to get back to our roots before it's too late.

  6. It would be much easier to prove that more disease happens during cold weather.

So you picked the easier side to prove.  I don't know how global warming could cause diseases to spread.  I don't even think Gore covered that in his fake documentary.

Maybe do a search on disease transmission and show how they spread more in the winter months.  To me it's obvious since more people get sick and die from the flu during the colder seasons.

Good luck and I hope you win the debate.

  7. That's what killed Elvis, along with global warming....

Global warming is also tied to low sperm count in horses, sheep and homeless people....

  8. The obvious opening argument has to be that there is no credible evidence to suggest that it is.  If anything warmer climate would reduce disease, as it would dry out pools of stagnant water mosquitoes live in.
