I agree with T E in everything said.  Assuming that the Government is doing an honest job in every case, you get back in services everything that you pay in taxes. The less or more you pay, the less or more you get back. Conservatives believe in self-reliance.  They say, Keep your money and spend it as you see fit, but don't run to us if you get in trouble. Socialist governments say We can't let you greedy rich people keep your own money (whether you've worked hard for it or not), we're going to give it to the poor - whether in individual cases they need and deserve it, or not.

Taxes are like death here: certainty, and dreadful to many. However, taxes are needed to provide funding for education, hospital care, roads, etc.

It is admirable for a 13 yr old 7th grader like you to ask this tough question about Canadian taxes and, as I also found out, about Argentina taxes.
