okay there are alot of trucks that drive by my neighborhood(single cab) and their sounds hit hard! how can i get my old hardbody to sound like that. how much watts do you think is needed to hear it from down the street clear even when its just passing by fast. alot of trucks are loud but they only sound good from one direction.

  1. the first factor is all in box design, you can have awesome subs but a crappy box will make those subs suck.  in reverse, a properly made box can make lower end subs sound good.  with a single cab, you're probably stuck with a sealed box and 10s or 12s.  my advice is to build you a box, or buy an already built one. if you build one make sure you make separate chambers for each sub. make sure you buy some squeeze silicone from a hardware store and seal ALL inside edges, this is the best way to make it airtight.  also line the back walls of the box with polyester batting for sound deadening. (makes sure the sound waves inside of the box dont effect the ones outside).  when picking out the subs, make sure they will fit in the box depth-wise.  if you want major bump and spl, get dual voice coil subs.  stick with a mono amp and 4 gauge wire is normally the best for most setups.  as for watts, just try to get a mono amp that has an rms close to the rms wattage of you're subs.  a mono amp can handle lower ohms and will push the same power to both subs equally.
