  1. D is normal everyday drive. This is the gear you use 99% of the time.

N is neutral, normally only used when you need to check the engine.

    R is reverse

L1 & L2 are used in slippier conditions like snow or descending steep hills.

O/D is overdrive. O/D is normally switched on when the car is at or near cruising speed to lower revs and improve MPG. If it's left on all the time the car will be slower to accelerate from slow speeds and will use more fuel.

  2. Drive

    Neutral

    Reverse

    Loe Gear 1

    Low Gear 2

    Over Drive

  3. Most vehicles now have an overdrive in the transmission . For most in town driving the O/D off button will keep the trans from shifting in and out of overdrive. Most people will only use D & R

  4. d. drive  .moves forward shifts automatically through  1st,2nd,3rd, and o/d

    n neutral.. car sits still

    r reverse   car goes backward

l1  first gear  forward stays in low gear

    l2  2nd gear..car will shift first and 2nd

o/d overdrive,,,higher gear than drive that allows engine to run slower with same speed

off  turns o/d off for certain conditions, like rain or snow
