Question:

How are tv screens measured? width or diagonal?

just wondering. Never really knew. plus I'm lookin at buyin a new tv.

  1. Diagonal...


  2. Diagonally.  43" (for example) is top left corner to bottom right corner.  This is regardless of whether the TV is widescreen or fullscreen.

    However, screen type also needs to be taken into account- if you buy a fullscreen (4:3) TV and watch all widescreen shows without stretching it, it will be compressed to fit the width of the screen, losing a decent amount (about 4" height off a 36" TV).

  3. Diagonal. If youre gonna buy a flat screen, don't buy a full 1080 hd tv if its gonna be below 35~ inches. You won't be able to tell the difference between that and a 720 hd tv.
