  1. I really don't know if it is infectious.  However, I typed into my Google searchbox "Urinary infections" and a ton of websites with info popped up.  Too many to read in a hurry.

Why don't you check there at your leisure.  Hope this helps.

  2. After from sexual intercourse, it can be transfered through sharing panties, towel and rarely, sponge with another person. Also, sharing the same toilet without disinfecting it.

  3. Generally, they develop rather than get get passed from person to person.

  4. well besides having s*x, you can also get a urinary infection from holding your pee too long, that is to say, going to the bathroom once a day, or holding it in for long periods of time. i'm sure there are other ways, but i only know of the two. either way, UTI's are easily treated with some antibiotics.

  5. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are really a broad category of conditions and not a single disease.  Although they have been intensely studied, they are not well understood.

Upper tract infections (which involve the kidneys) are usually considered more serious than lower tract infections (which involve the bladder, urethra, or prostate in males).  A wide variety of organisms can be involved but most UTIs in humans have a single organism present.

The vast majority of UTIs are caused by enteric (normally found within the intestines) bacteria.  Of these, Escherichia coli is the most common.  The remainder are due to sexually transmitted pathogens, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses or parasites.

Diagnosis of UTIs is based on analysis and culture of urine.  Bacterial UTIs are treated with antibiotics.

UTIs are often divided into Complicated (when there are underlying factors that hamper urine flow, including a catheter) and Uncomplicated (which occurs without underlying abnormality or impairment of urine flow).

If you have not had a medical procedure done recently, then it is likely that the UTI is Uncomplicated.  The source pathogen could have entered through the p***s or the kidneys.  Fecal incontinence increases risk from external infections.  Poor immune systems are associated with hematogenous infections (originating in the blood flowing through the kidneys).

Eliminating sexual activity as a source, the most common source for the infection is from another part of your own body.  You did not "catch" this disease, it developed from bacteria which were already in your digestive tract or blood and found their way into your urine tract.

  6. Who is at risk?

Some people are more prone to getting a UTI than others. Any abnormality of the urinary tract that obstructs the flow of urine (a kidney stone, for example) sets the stage for an infection. An enlarged prostate gland also can slow the flow of urine, thus raising the risk of infection.

A common source of infection is catheters, or tubes, placed in the urethra and bladder. A person who cannot void or who is unconscious or critically ill often needs a catheter that stays in place for a long time. Some people, especially the elderly or those with nervous system disorders who lose bladder control, may need a catheter for life. Bacteria on the catheter can infect the bladder, so hospital staff take special care to keep the catheter clean and remove it as soon as possible.

  7. They are not really spread from person to person as such and are really only an issue in women. They are due basically to the design of the female anatomy, with the close proximity of urethra to a**s. Most occur spontaneously by contamination of the urethra by bowel organism. Certainly this is increased by the mechanics of sexual activity. but not actually spread by sexual intercourse itself.

  8. sexually as you say is usually the only way person to person pass on you can get it from poorly sanitised toilets, poor quality toilet paper and not washing your hands also none cotton underwear. clean or not can breed more infection because the area cant breathe and cleanse itself
