  1. Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

  2. I heard that cow poots are now thought to be affecting global warming

  3. By burning fossil fuels, we release carbon which has been stored for millions of years.  We're emitting CO2 at a rate faster than then natural carbon cycle can absorb, so the CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere.  Because it's a greenhouse gas, CO2 traps heat and causes global warming.

  4. We are causeing global warming because of all the pollution (like the smoke that is released into the environment out of smoke stacks on factorys) in the air. The carbon dioxide in these is biulding up in the tip top of the atmosphere. Trees being cut down, that were previously taking in the carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, adds up to the excess CO2. All of this CO2 burns holes in the ozone layer (wich used to protectthe earth from the harmful UV rays coming from the sun). The UV rays makes it hotter, even locking in, the UV from the sun. Thats global warming.

  5. When we burn wood, coal or oil, for any reason, Carbon Dioxide is produced that goes, is emitted, to the air.

There is no known way to remove this CO2 from the air, without using more energy that produces far more CO2 than the CO2 removed.

The energy we get from the Carbon in these fuels comes FROM the production of CO2. To separate the "C" Carbon from CO2 requires breaking the bind between these atoms, this Binding Energy is more than the energy we got when we burnt the Carbon in wood, Coal or oil.

The Key Fact is that CO2 has the effect of keeping the heat of the Earth in the Earth. Like a GreenHouse that keeps it warm.

Think of CO2 as a blanket thrown on top of the Earth. Like the one you might use but, in this case, we are not cold and now have far too many blankets and we are getting more every single day. We must get rid of the blankets or we will bake and soffocate.

I trust you see why we must, completely stop burning wood, coal, gas and oil. Totally stop, end, Nichts. Nada.

So, how will we survive? I think the question is Will we survive?

At this time, reading what you see here, and assuming the contributors here are, I believe, certainly above average education, I think the human race, and all living beings, are doomed not to the fires of h**l but only to about 846 Deg. Fahrenheit, the temperature of the Venus Atmosphere..
