Question:

How are we being affected by Global Warming?

I'm doing a paper on why global warming is one of the most dangerous problems affecting us environmentally, but I need some help. How is the environment being affected, how are animals suffering, and are we being affected as well? Some things I'll be mentioning are the green house effect and radiation levels. I'd prefer if people who knew what they were talking about answered and directed me to good sites for information that I can cite in the paper.

  1. global warming heats ice caps breaking them off raising water levels therfore eventually flooding low land comunities, for the animals such as polar bears ice is usually their home with the ice caps breaking its endangering the polar bear species.

  2. Radiation levels!! global warm is worse than i thought

  3. One thing you might consider is the bigger picture.  Global warming is affecting people by fear propagation, wasted money spent on something man cannot control (same as global cooling), and carbon credit trading schemes that allow pollution and money trading.

The earth's been changing it's climate (third one so far) and man is not able to stop it.  Find out when the last ice age was supposedly finished (I've heard it was in the 70's).

I'm an environmental scientist by trade, and don't believe that global warming is any more serious than global cooling.  It's going to happen.  Man is arrogant to think that he can stop it.  Additionally, man's contribution to global warming is miniscule.

  4. The effects of global climate change are being felt directly in Bhutan.  At least 25 glacial lakes there are at risk of overflowing and dumping their contents into narrow valleys where the bulk of the population lives.

Changes to Bhutan's monsoon season could impact agriculture, the chief source of income for most of Bhutan's residents.  In addition, Bhutan relies heavily on selling hydroelectric power.  This accounts for around 1/3 of national revenue.

In response to the situation, the country will be spending $7 million on a 4-year project to relieve some of the pressure on the Thorthormi River.  They'll also install an early warning system.

Other nations are or will be directly affected one way or another.

Good luck on your paper.  Use recycled paper to print it on, and ask your teacher if the school recycles their paper waste.

There are other scientists and climatologists who all along have claimed that the current models that are being used to determine the warming trend are incorrect or at least need more study. Please do your homework well and at least look at the other side of the story from those whose field it is and who have no ulterior motive as in making money for themselves. Here is a balanced view with many good links to NASA and other information.

  7. id look at the houses that are collapsing in Alaska, because the permafrost is melting.

    animal migration patterns are changing.

    just google, Global Warming Effects

  8. Sea water pH levels are on the decline, which affects the small creatures and coral reef whom are sensitive to such small changes in their environment.

    Polar bears are (supposedly) drowning.

  9. I love how its earthday and nobody gives a ****.
