Question:

How are we going to get Polygamy Legal Again?

It was once the standard, even in Biblical times, to be able to have multiple wives. Unfortunately in the last 100 years, only extreme sects of mormons and then extreme versions of them like FDS have been the face of Polygamy which is so wrong. I myself disagree with the whole FDS Model, because the marriage should be equals, and no kids should be involved.

If three of more people can justify it, and be willing to work a multiple marriage, I believe they should have the right.

What do you think?

  1. It will not be legal in the US for a myriad of reasons.

  2. I think it should be totally legal.  The problem with how people see it in the news is that the women are underage and they got no choice in the matter.

Married people so often don't stick to the one person they married anyway.  They get married and then cheat all over the place.

Then there are the swingers...  Those people are married yet they spread their stuff all over the place and no body's  making that illegal.

I don't want to regulate anybody's life.  Within reason, people should be able to do what they want.

Personally, I don't like the idea of swinging, group s*x or "Polyamoury" as I've read about it.

With all that said I do think I would love to have a bigger "family" than usual.  A group of spouses to love and care for each other.  Share housework, expenses, income, plan for the future, spend time together ... all that.  Like a husband and wife - extended.

  3. Its kind of legal. In arabic countries men can marry as many women as they can afford.

Same in the USA. You can have many "wives" if you are a millonaire. If so, why to marry any of them?

  4. I think THe California  supreme court accidentally legalize it.  All it needs is to sue the courts on this.  I believe when the courts stated it is unconstitutional to discriminate by sexual preference, they open a can of worms.  My sexual preference is to marry a multitude of super models.  Oddly, super models don't seem to follow through with my plan.

It can't happen in Utah.   THeir constitution strictly forbids it.

  5. We aren't.  In the past women also couldn't vote, own property, or use birth control.  Men could beat their wives, marry their sisters, and girls could be stoned to death for not being virgins "in biblical times."  Women had to be submissive to their husbands and couldn't speak in church.  Women fought for equal rights, and overall are still paid less than men for doing the same job.  I can't imagine why any women would want to give up their hard won rights, just because they didn't have any in the past and join a harem.  What do you think of women having multiple husbands?

  6. once g*y marriage become nationally legal, anything can happen. People will start wanting to marry their dog.

  7. I think that Ploygamy, no matter who agrees or disagrees should be legal because its the right of consenting adults to marry if they please and it is still within the bounds of natural sexually (man and woman) as opposed to (man-on-man) unlike g*y marriage which is close to becoming legal.  As long as there is full disclosure and consenting parties, it should be legal.  Its better than putting your children into daycare with strangers or having single mother struggling alone and living in poverty. The media tends to hone in and stigamatize anything will galvanize socitety to buy its news papers or turn to its channel.  So they will always focus on child abuse in order to stigmatize it.  The only reason polygamists live in secret now is because society has stigmatized it otherwise they would live in the open. Monogomy is no stranger to child abuse. Most children are abused by "monogomists".  Many politicians and religious leaders, the same ones that condemn ploygamy, often pick up young male prostitutes, and priests often rape young boys, yet they are not stigmatized.  There is an entire "monogomist" black market for child prostitution.  So monogomy is not superior nor more mature no more moral.  There is less jealousy and usuall far less cheating in ploygamist relationships then there are in monogomist relationships and more support.  There is no shortage of women.  Just take a look on the internet and all over the world, there are thousands of lonely women struggling on their own with children of monogomist relationships that have been destoyed by cheating and lying.  Where polygamy is based on honesty and unselfishness. Of course a christian driven media is going to stigamized anything that does not coeside with christian values even though many people in the bible were married to more than one woman.  As far as women marrying more than one man, again it would be ok if all of the parties were consenting but you would then have the problem of figuring out who the daddy is.  You'd have to get a DNA test each time a child is born and honestly i dont think that one woman can handle three men on a full time basis, but if she can then more power to her.  But the law illegalizes polygamy and then lables it a sect of they live outside the rules. Fact is that there will always be power that feel is their sole duty to tell everyone how they can live and what they can do. The underlying reason for such rules are to make all cultures dependent on they, thereby redirecting their wealth and human capital to their own benefit and to increase their own power.  its all about power not morality all.  Thats the reason for the discrepancies. These powers are usually caucasians (not all) who think is their job to rule the world and act like God, and lay down the rules for eveyone else and use the bible as an excuse to do it.

  8. now in the age of women wouldn't be justified for women to have multiple husbands?  lets give the women their turn  mr doodles

  9. I think it will be legalized right after slavery, its close cousin.

If you like polygamy, why not move to one of the many countries that practice it? If you look at them, you will find that they are economic disasters, except those that we support with our oil money.

Polygamy may sound fun to you, but it produces unstable families unless women's rights are so restricted that they have no choice. It also produces a lot of excess men.

Why do you think you could find extra wives in a polygamous nation? There aren't enough women to go around. For every man with 4 wives, there are 3 men who can't find a wife at all. Are you sure you would be the lucky man? Are you old and rich and powerful? That's who gets to marry in polygamous countries. The rest are out of luck. Do the math.

The legal challenge that allows same s*x marriage is not in any way related to polygamy. Good luck trying to find a politician to help you change the laws on this one, especially after the FLDS fiasco.

  10. I have zero moral issue with polygamy, the issue I have is a systemic one.  If the distribution of multiples (multiple wives and multiple husbands) is not roughly equal and we create a shortage of available women... well, let the violent zaniness begin.

  11. The first time there was a problem with polygamy was around the time of the Nephilim:

the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with [a] man forever, for
