It is such a big thing and it doesn't seem anyone is making drastic changes to help it. We get informed on it everyday but how are we supposed to change... I can't even put in words what I mean. Humans HAVE to be part of the problem, come on you can't deny it that the cars we drive cause pollution and greenhouse gases. No ones knows for sure or wants to believe what they hear.......... This whole issue bothers me because I want to help but it doesn't seem anything will help.

  1. visit www.rubikubism.wetpaint.com!

its a great world issues site! it has tons on global warming and stuff! i helped write it!. if you go to global warming section you can find out tons of stuff! like how we can help reduce global warming affects!

  2. Well the very BEST way we can make a difference is if we just switch to an alternative fuel source...I mean you hear every day how much output the sun has....and it IS possible to use it...very cheap too...the only problem: polotics are too selfish to make things cheaper and better for everyone else...that's all it's ever been about is money...they honestly don't care what's going on wit the environment..

  3. The reason people aren't doing much to help is because there are so many idiots in the world who say its not true. Just half the world's population trying won't make much of a difference unfortunately, everyone needs to recycle, we need to reduce our amount of waste, we need to find a cleaner fuel source for our cars and houses.

I wish all the stupid people of the world would just look around, our home is in danger. Even IF global warming isn't real our pollution and destruction of this planet has got to stop. The damage we are causing will catch up to us eventually, even if it won't be in our lifetimes, the next generation will suffer. I can't believe some people aren't doing anything. Global Warming is one big wake-up call.

  4. The actual amount of CO2 that is man made in the greenhouse gases is so small...I don't want to get into the whole drama of it, but I think "global warming" is a bunch of bull.  Polution, however, is a real thing, and I believe that by planting trees/plants and by keeping your own spot in the world clean, you are helping.

You may want to take a peek at my blog.  I heavily and objectively researched global warming.  You may be surprised...  I know I was.  I just wanted to know the truth.

  5. Im sorry to tell u this we can not stop this from happening but we can hold it off for a while by useing less fossil fuel like gasoline and coal.

  6. You can start by recycling and carpooling.  Ride your bike whenever you can.  You may just want to research the issue.  I heard someone say that 50% of scientists don't believe in global warming....I don't know how true that is.

  7. Wow if Cristal did her research using only snopes.com (her blog) then she really doesn't know how to do proper research as she says she does.  Proper research includes using at least 3 sources for information.  Those sources of information should be written or spoken from professionals in the field with a college degree when aplicable (as it is aplicable on this issue).  It is also a good idea to find sources that may not agree with one another that way you have more than "one side" of the story.  She went to this one web page and believes every word of it.  Anywho, I think global warming is real.  Just my opinion.  Look at the statistics yourself.  Look at the ice caps and shelves melting away.  Those weren't supposed to start melting until 20 years from now or longer.  It is just all happening to fast.  Then look at all our hurricanes (I live in Louisiana and this is getting bad!) and all the tornados and freak floods.  My family experienced an earthquake up north where the scientist didn't even think there was a fault line.  It was the first recorded earthquake there.... EVER and that was just last month. I think all we really need to do is look around and open our eyes to see that we are killing our beautiful planet.  The government is the one that needs to make the change.  They need to let us have better fuel sources that are out there, like the hydrogen car (ZERO EMMISIONS), but they don't make money off of that.  There are better ways than coal plants to produce energy, but the government doesn't make money off of that either.  So it all boils down to MONEY.  Sad story I know.

  8. All the main players – from politicians and scientists to big corporations and the United Nations – benefit from instilling fear into billions of human beings over the unproven theory of man-made global warming. Indeed, just three weeks after the U.N. ratcheted up international fears over global warming, a panel of 18 scientists from 11 countries has now reported to the U.N. that the only thing that can stop catastrophic climate change is a global tax – on greenhouse gas emissions.  Environmentalism is nothing less than the global elitists' replacement ideology for communism/socialism. With communism largely discredited today – after all, 100-150 million people died at the hands of communist "visionaries" during the last century – elitists who desire to rule other people's lives have gravitated to an even more powerful ideology. More powerful because it seems to trump all other considerations, as it claims the very survival of life on earth is dependent on implementing its agenda. "It's important that everyone understands the game being played."  For more than 100 years, journalists have quoted scientists predicting the destruction of civilization by, in alternation, either runaway heat or a new Ice Age. The news media beat the drum of "climate catastrophe" daily, all but ignoring scientists who say the threat is overblown or nonexistent. And across America, school children are frightened to death with tales of rising oceans, monster tornadoes, droughts and millions dying – all because of man-made global warming. As for the strange weather patterns we have seen lately, you can pretty much blame HAARP and military weather modification experiments.

  9. I will concede that we humans must strive to be better stewards of this planet Earth and do what we can to reduce our contribution to global warming.  But science is proving, and the evidence is growing among top scientists, that humans play a minor, if negligible role in actual global warming.

But just for a minute let's suppose we inhabitants of earth are truly to blame.  Just for your information the USA and our peoples are the most responsible and energy-conserving in the world.  Sure we use a lot of energy and that is because we are the most technologically-developed nation in the world.  Other nations such as China and India don't have nearly the strict standards and  regulations that we operate under.  And they are at this moment engaged in drilling off our shores, taking the oil which we should be pumping.  And we cannot, due to the liberal Democrats blocking us.

And science is proving  beyond a doubt, that we are not responsible for global warming.

During the millions of years the earth has been in existence, the planet has undergone periods of ice ages and periods of warming.  A normal cyclical happening.

Now, to the best of my knowlege dinosaurs did not ride around in SUV's or jet planes, or leave the lights on at night.

So how can present mankind, especially the "evil energy mongering American" be blamed as per Al Gore and Michael Moore.  Moore is so useless and he's financed by George Soros, a billionaire whos is h**l-bent to bring down the USA.  And Al Gore has become a multi millionaire from profits reaped from his scare tactics and ties to the "greenies"

If you want to place some blame, then talk to Obama who has his "buds" jetted in for a quick game of pickup basketball.

    What a hypocrite!

If he and Michelle really want to do their part to combat global warming, I suggest they pitch a tent high in the cold Rocky Mountains and sing Kumbiya over a can of sterno.  A very nice picture.

  10. The problem of global warming is the most serious threat this country - and the world at large - has ever faced. This problem goes beyond petty differences, problems of economy, social issues, even beyond international conflicts and the war on terrorism. We are talking about the survival of multiple species on Earth, including the human race.

Action must be taken now in order to reverse the effects of global climate change, both by direct action and by informing others of the problem and its seriousness. This needs to be accomplished on four levels. First, on the personal/family level; second on the local & regional level; third, on the national political level; and finally, internationally. All four of these levels must occur simultaneously.

The first level - personal & family:

Each of us must make energy saving changes in our lives, and convince our family and friends to do the same, so each of us takes personal responsibility for reducing our own CO2 footprint on the planet. How can we expect others to change, if we don't follow our own advice. We have an opportunity to lead by example. First, we must educate ourselves on the problem, and the steps we, personally, can take to solve it.

Simple steps, like lowering our thermostats in winter, and raising them in summer; replacing regular light bulbs with compact florescent bulbs; using less hot water; insulating your home; turning off (and unplugging) electric devices not in use; walking, biking, carpooling or taking public transportation when possible; buying products that use less packaging material; buy locally grown foods and shop at your local farmer's market; buy organic foods; keeping the air in your automobile's tires inflated and the engine well maintained; and, of course, recycling, can make a significant difference.

We can go even further than that. When we need to replace an appliance - choose one with an energy star label. When it comes time to buy a new car, look at buying a hybrid (or one that runs on alternative fuels, like E85). If it's available in your area, switch to green power, that uses renewable resources like solar and wind to provide electricity to your home - or if you can afford it, install your own solar panels on your home. Whenever you get a chance - plant a tree.

The second level - Local & regional:

We need to take what we do at home out into our community. Take these same energy saving tools to work or school. Not only inform and educate your coworkers about the climate crisis, and the things they can do o help, but encourage change in the workplace or school itself.

Attend city council meeting, and write to the mayor and council members voicing your concerns and encouraging the switch to renewable energy. Work to break down the regulatory barriers that are preventing a wider transition to energy sources like solar, wind and biomass.

Make your voice heard wherever you go. Bring it up in any clubs, groups and organizations you may belong to. If you lead any children's groups (scouts, ymca, etc.) incorporate what you have learned in your activities and lessons. make sure the next generation will carry on with this fight.

On a personal level, we can direct our monetary investments to companies that are environmental friendly and/or into companies, programs and products that are trying to address environmental/climate issues.

    The third level - National-political:

Now we get to making big changes. To do this, we all have to become politically active. I don't mean just vote. I'm talking about contacting your state and national representatives (assemblyman, congressman, senator and president) on every issue that relates to the environment and has an effect on climate change. Call them. Do it so much that they will remember your name. This can't be done by just a handful of people, it needs to be done by everyone. You may feel that it takes up too much time, that you don't have the time to spare, but you need to find it if you really want to make a difference. Democracy is not easy.

Keep yourself informed and educated about the issues and bills/resolutions that are being voted on so that you can speak or write intelligently about the subject. When you write or cal, be concise. Convey all the information you need to in a clear, short message. A long rambling email (kind of like this one) would probably be largely ignored. For this to be effective, we must become louder and harder to ignore that the oil and auto lobbies.

We must draw their attention away from the myth and distraction of hydrogen technology, which will not be available, cost-effective or viable for decades, and point out the technology that is available, and cost effective, now: hybrid engines, solar, wind, etc.

We must convince those congressmen and senators who work for us to pass broad, sweeping legislation. The kind that would make a significant difference. For example, have all cars, from all automakers selling in the US, be hybrids by 2011. The technology is already there to put a hybrid in any size vehicle (Toyota has small, and mid-size cars as well as SUVs an Mini-vans that operate with hybrid technology - even if all of them are not currently being sold in the U.S.).

We have to get our politicians to lead the oil industry into redefining itself. To help it move from "The Oil Industry" to "The Energy Industry". Our politicians have to guide them to develop alternatives to oil. We must guide our politicians to lead the oil industry into the future.

    The fourth level - International:

This one will be the hardest. Writing to our representatives will not have as strong an effect on the problems occurring in other countries, because the voices of our Congressmen and Senators carry about as much weight on the international stage as our individual voices carry in our own country.

This is the fight we can only begin to win by changing our own country first. America must become a leader in the struggle to reverse global warming, not just a half-hearted follower as we are now. We must get our politicians to recognize the problem and its significant consequences, work to change them, and then put pressure on the rest of the world to do the same.
