How are/will music companies still make a profit today/in the future due to downloading music ?

How are/will music companies still make a profit today/in the future due to downloading music instead of paying?

well as far as i know they still make money when people download it legally, which not a lot of people do!

i dont really think that they do make a lot of money now as much as they used to though, but it is an intresting question

I'm pretty sure that a small percentage of the money spent goes to the company as well.

Otherwise, bands wouldnt really need a record company.

But then, that could be the reason why so many bands make their own labels.

Remember that people do still buy Cds.

Its actually having the Cd thats a part makes it a bit different from download.

And, you can lend it to people, spreading the music.
