How are yogurts made?

I'm curious. Why do yogurts have sour taste? I' mean, isn't it made from milk? But why is the texture thicker than milk?

It's made by fermenting milk. The fermentation produces lactic acid which gives yogurt it's tart flavor, causes the milk proteins to thicken, and acts as a preservative.

ok so milk is whipped and cream is added, the flavor and hen it's cultured by putting bacteria in it. -Not bad bacteria but the bacteria that helps your digestion
