  1. use; down to about double world average now (yes, including the leccy to drive this computer and the servers), getting there.

wood burning stove run on local and scrap wood, better insulation, wear a jumper if it gets a bit nippy.

eat local (except my coffee and choccy, i'm no hair-shirt, that's my food-miles luxury), eat less meat, mostly chicken rarely beef.

do about 50 miles a week in car or less by reorganizing life and getting local work, and see some friends a bit less as a result, as i used to go round after work in their town rather than making special trip, but make up for that with emails etc.

low carbon generation; shares in a community windmill, and buy green energy (mostly hydro from my company).

offset; i am lucky, i have use of 1/2 acre land, now covered in fruit trees and veg raised beds of compost with charcoal and bugs as my offset.

its not me doing it, it is photosynthesis and microbial action.

  2. I practice and promote GREEN HOME OWNERSHIP (lots of tips and ideas for making your home eco-friendly at http://www.ecohomestoday.com).

I am also a fan of GREEN TRANSPORTATION (walking, public transportation, and hybrid cars).

Also, I try to make WASTE MINIMIZATION a daily habit: buy recycled products whenever possible, conserve water and electricity, keep compost and recycle bins at home, etc.

Addressing those 3 areas, I believe, makes the biggest difference in minimizing the carbon footprint.

  3. nope

Do me a favor...will you please double your efforts to be "green" so that I don't have to?

Just think of yourself as my personal "carbon offset"

    Thanks!

  10. I've planted so many trees in my life that I can now use all the carbon I want and never catch up to the carbon that I have already captured through the forests growing from my hard work. And Al Gores companies didn't have to see a dime from me to accomplish this.

    P.S. I don't usually walk through ashes so I don't have a carbon footprint.
