  1. My wedding is two years away (I wish it were closer!!) but this is our idea so far:

    (We're having a semi-formal/casual type wedding)

Round tables with simple white table cloths. In the center of the tables we'll put a large martini glass filled with purple water. In the water we're going to float a candle. Then we'll sprinkle red rose petals all around the glass. I'd also like to have a butterfly perched on the edge of the glass, but I haven't yet figured out if that's possible.

  2. I'm not getting married right now, but the last few weddings I went to candles were the centerpiece, not flowers.

    Congratulations...

  3. hi i am using votive candles as center pieces..i am having round tables and i am staying away from flowers

  4. We haven't decided yet between a restaurant wedding/reception or a chapel wedding/appetizer reception-at-home yet.

If we do the restaurant, it will already be predecorated with Christmas/Yule season greenery, flowers and plants.  If we have the reception at home, I will have multiple tables covered with burgundy fabric and use gold accents (matches my dress).  I'm a quilter, so can use the fabric in a quilt later (yes, I wrap presents in fabric as well - gives me an excuse to buy more).  My biggest challenge right now is to figure out places to sit with side tables for 30 guests in my home.

Unless I can find some nice gold serving trays, I will just cover what I have with burgundy or gold foil.

  5. Caterer is taking care of the linens, all I need to worry about is centrepieces. We're going to buy flowers and vases and just do straight out flowers for the centrepieces. We aren't getting the officiant a boutonniere, as it's an RC wedding so he'll be wearing a chasuble, so we're going to give the friars some of the centrepiece flowers afterwards.

  6. My wedding is this Saturday & we are doing brown plastic table cloths (they dont look cheap or bad at all) with pink rose centerpieces on 6 tables & a variety of brown, white & pink candles on a mirror on the other 6 tables. That is for our round tables. On the long banquet tables we will do cream tables cloths with roses & candles....My mom & future MIL planned this & it will be gorgeous! :)

  7. Our reception is in the church fellowship hall. The tables are round and I'm using cream colored linen tablecloths that the church has for them. (I'm paying the dry cleaning bill). I found floating candle centerpieces at wrapwithus.com  They have white rose flower rings around them in a silver holder. Very pretty for less than $5 each.

  8. I got married in an art gallery and kept it simple. Just white linens & black ballroom chairs. There was a simple wire sculpture in the center of each table.

  9. My colors are white, silver and sapphire and my wedding is a winter Old Hollywood feel. Doing a lot of sparkles!

White table cloth, with a sapphire velvet table runner. I'm going to make my own Crystal Tree in a pot for each table and then have diamond confetti and candle surrounding the pot. So much sparkle! I can't wait! :)

  10. I am doing something really simple because I hate centerpiece,s I think they are the biggest waste of money ($45/table to have something sit there all night in your guests way of talking).

We are having long rectangle tables because I think it's a little more unique that the traditional round banquet hall style (we aren't having it in a banquet hall either).

I am going to make cranberry red velveteen table runners for down the centre of each table and then just set votive candles in glass holders in a row down the table (10 people per table so three candles per table).  It should only cost about $100 for 10 tables, and I can reuse the runners and candles later.

  11. sounds lovely, I had a friend who's colors were choc. brown and pink and she did pink material with choc. runner and on the table were a pretty vase with coffee beans and white candles in them, it was very pretty! Congrats!

  12. I like your ideas...I was kicking around the whole Mason jar thing back when I thought we were catering BBQ for our reception, but then we decided to hold it at my favorite Mexican restaurant instead, so I figured Mason jars would look out of place.

Since the restaurant is already decorated in a very "fiesta-like" manner, I thought too much additional decor would look too busy, so I'm just planning to have fun "edible" centerpieces- giant margarita glasses chock-a-block full of M&Ms, with maybe some funny drink umbrellas and crazy straws stuck in each one to add to that "margarita" feeling.  Ole!!!

  13. I love your idea... it sounds really pretty.

I'm doing long tables also, which will have white table cloths on them (provided by the facility) and then I'm doing votive, picture of when we were little (in place card holders) votive, floating flower, votive, picture again, and another votive.  And then I'm spreading leaves around them (it's in September)  Then on each place I'm putting a thank-you poem card, since we are having a buffet and there will be no plates on the tables.  Sounds kind of crowded, but we tried it out and it looks awesome!  I can't wait! :)

  14. I didnt have tables (just buffet tables and chairs scattered around), but at my brother-in-law's wedding last year, they had candles sitting on mirrors in the center with Hershey Kisses and Hugs scattered around the mirror - they bought these cute stickers to put on the bottoms of them (made for that purpose) that had wedding bells and the like printed on them.  I seem to think they had some sort of white glitter or confetti as well.

  15. I love the idea of the mason jars with the candles!!! I own a catering business and we had a girl do that recently...go to my myspace and check out the pictures...

make sure to put some a small amount of water in the bottom of the jar so the wax won't stick to the bottom. When I say small I mean just enough to cover the botton. like 1/8 inch.
