Question:

How are you going to deal with the rising fuel costs?

I am looking into converting a car to electric, probably an electric car with an onboard alternator. I have taken steps to increase my fuel economy ie my driving habits, organizing my trips for running errands, making sure I have the correct air pressure (on the high end) in the tires, etc.

What are you doing?

  1. Driving as little as humanly possible. I've been walking to the grocery store, and biking to campus. The other day actually (this is pretty pathetic) I walked around town dropping off job applications and didn't wear the right shoes...

When I got home me feet we're bleeding! Lol. Oh well, wouldn't have happened with the right shoes.

When I finish up my degree, I want to move to a big city where  I won't ever have to drive and where I can walk, bike, or take public transportation everywhere. As it currently stands, my current town is about 75% there when it comes to being set up for non car transport.

  2. I too would like to buy a fully electric car, then plug it into some solar panels for recharging. Thats the goal at least!

  3. I have begun taking advantage of public transportation.

Electric cars may reduce your transportation costs but it does nothing for traffic congestion. Public transportation solves both problems at the same time.

  4. Give less to charity.

  5. I'm not.  I don't drive.hehe

  6. I buy my wvo for my diesel at $2. a gal.

  7. Stop voting for environmental democrats..

  8. Well, for now, I have given up my car in favor of public transportation. The money I'm saving on gasoline, car insurance and tolls is going to go towards my credit card debt, which isn't a lot ($2,000), but is far more than I would like.

I'll probably turn it into an exercise thing for myself and am looking into buying a touring bicycle. I hear Bianchi makes nice touring bicycles.

If/once I get enough money saved up, I might look into buying one of the fuel-efficent Toyota Solaras. They're stylish and sleek and get good gas mileage.

  9. I will vote out liberal greenies and progressives.

  10. A NEW OIL SOURCE IS AVAILABLE AT A MUCH LOWER PRICE. I'M WAITING ON THE PRESIDENT REPLY.

  11. To have a generator driven by a motor,U will loose about 40% in the conversion from mechanical to electrical power.

  12. Save your money on the electric car bit. Unless you are competent in electrical engineering, you're going to have nothing but head-aches.

Buy a hybrid and oil company stock.
