How are you supposed to care for a Texas Rat Snake??

my friend and I found a Texas Rat Snake outside and we want to keep it and we need to know how we feed it... it's about 1/2 a foot long

  1. return it where you found it.  wild-caught animals do not make good pets.  the snake obviously knew how to take care of itself and does not need any help.  thank you very much for doing the right thing and returning it where you found it.


  2. First, are you sure it's a Texas rat snake? They hatch at 12 or more inches in length, not 6 inches like you're saying. So either you have the world's smallest Texas rat snake, or it's something else. Second, they tend to be pretty aggressive and are quick to bite. You really should let it go and buy a snake if you want one as a pet. Texas rat snake hatchlings eat pinky mice...and only pinky mice.
