How aware and interested are Non-Americans in the current US presidential process?

I ask because many times during convention speeches and debates, the broadcasters mention that millions of people in the country and the world are viewing "these historic moments". Are these events really televised on popular TV stations worldwide? Are Non-Americans well informed with the whole US presidential process? Do they care? Why? Is it a topic of everyday conversation while its current? Etc.

I also ask because, for better or worse, in America other nation's election processes aren't really televised and many people aren't informed with them or even know how they work. I'm curious to know if this "relationship" is mutual or not.

  1. i wouldn't go out of my way to find out about it, but the bbc keeps going on and on about obama and the guy from die hard and obama is an assassin and bill clinton and obama is going for a run with his mate and stuff

  2. Most of us don't give 1 second to your shame of an election process. In the UK you may see a few minutes on the news but honestly it is soooo boring and obviously a popularity contest...fully of n**i like speeches to 10's of thousands of people. Spewing out garbage false empty promises. Its either vote for me because i am black, a woman or a man who will protect the country. Its all a shame and not something to be proud of.

  3. Most of the world is very interested in the US presidential process. most of them watch on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera etc. I believe the world is more informed as the outcome of this process will affect them one way or another. I also believe most of the world is very well educated and informed about the process.

  4. I translate into a number of countries and the interest in what is happening here is very interesting.

Whatever happens here affects the rest of the world in no small

    measure.

I hope we can climb the hill ahead of us.

  5. I don’t know about non-Americans but many of my relatives in Canada are paying attention to the political process in the US.

  6. well, I was looking at Newspapers from around the world the day after Obamas acceptance speech and he was on the cover of almost every one.  So I'd say yeah.

  7. There's a LOT of interest.  For a couple of reasons. One isthat a lot of people look to America as a leader--or at least a symbol--of freedom and democracy. For us to take this step forward is a major--and welcome--development. It reaffirms their hopewe really are what we claim to be--a hope that has been badly undermined by the last 8 years of neoconservative extremism.

The other reason--tat many Americans don't realize--is entirely practical.  REGARDLESS of how wise, foolish, good,or bad our actions, America us like an elephant in a chicken coop.  It doesn't matter how nice the elephant is--the chickens had d**n well better keep a sharp eye on him!
