How aweful would it be to name a kid this?

Pronounced "no-na-mee"

I'm not planning to do it, because I do think it would be mean. But I think it's kind of a nice sounding word, pronounced this way. (even though it looks terrible).

What do you think?

It actually has a nice pronunciation..but terrible spelling. It looks like they literally did not have a name for the child.

Nonami even looks a bit off.

Yes it would.  It's sort of like the parents gave up and decided just to give the "no name" instead.

Btw, isn't that the name of a band?

Reminds me of the WWII joke about the private named B.O. Jones.

B.O. didn't stand for anything. His parents simply gave him initials (BJ Honeycutt, perhaps?) The Army had difficulty with the concept and filled in all his paperwork as B(only) O(only) Jones.

Thus, he became Bonly Only Jones!

I don't like the way it's spelt but it sounds exotic.

I wouldn't use it as it sounds like "Here is the tall and leafy Noname Tree"

It would be cute though because for a nickname it would be like No-No or No-Nee and that sounds cute doesn't it?

Looks to much like no name.  I wouldn't recommend it because your child will never hear the end of it in school.

Nona-Mae is an actual name, but the way you spelled it looks hideous and would be cruel to do that to a child.  Nobody would pronounce it correctly and the child would always know that the parents did it as a cruel joke!

...Not diggin' the spelling.  Try Nonamie, Nonamy... people are cruel and WILL pronounce it as they read it!
