Neither the Yankees or Red Sox make it!? People keep talking her about the Red Sox, but their lead is only one game over the Twins. And the Twins are playing as good as anyone right now with only a month left. Take the top two money teams out of the mix, and this years playoffs have the potential to be the best in a long time. ESPN will not even cover it probably.

  1. If we can have a post season without the Yankees and Red Sox it would be great.  People hate them because they are in there so much because they outspend everyone.  Fans like to see other teams win.  If the Cardinals can't get in this year I will root for the Cubs (Yes a die hard Cardinals fan rooting for the Cubs.  I have a lot of friend who are Cubs fans)  and Tampa Bay.

  2. I agree completely. Too bad the Cubs are there. But I love the big spending teams failing. The Yankees and Yankees Light (boston) have bought their way in every year recently. That is why it is a pleasure to see Detroit fail. They tried to buy a team also, and it failed them big time!

  3. I've been waiting for a playoffs without the Yankees. The Red Sox I can tolerate. But yes it would be really interesting to see the playoffs without the two biggest names. But I still think the Red Sox are going to end it with the Wild Card.

But what I don't agree with is how people say teams buy their way in. Yes it could be a little more fair but to get a huge payroll, you have to be a great team over many years like the Yankees were. But I do have more respect for teams like the Rays who have some of the lowest payrolls in the MLB and still make it work.
