Question:

How bad does MLB want the Yankees to make the playoffs?

Its unbelievable. Sportscenter will devote a daily story to whether or not the Yankees can make the playoffs. I know they have the largest payroll in the largest market, but this is ridiculous. U would never see this would a smaller market team. They want NY to make the playoffs so bad. Is this fair?

  1. Because they think the yankees need to be in every playoff.  They think it helps their ratings.  I think they are out of it now.  Sportscenter doesn't know what they are saying.

  2. Sportscenter is based in where?  Oh ya, New York.  ESPN also doesn't want NFL draft to leave New York either.  Why shouldn't that event be shared by all cities?  (Other than the obvious: ESPN writers and staff don't want to travel).

Sportscenter always plays up New York sports, not just because its a big market (they don't donate anywhere near the time to LA or Chicago the 2nd and 3rd biggest markets).  Its their hometown.  Notice all the writers they have from New York as well.  They must be the sportswriter capital of the country.

When watching ESPN, just pretend your watching a local NY sports show, with great bias toward the hometeam.

  3. Sportscenter can't get off the Yankees and Red Sox  nut's that's the only two teams they talk about they are fuck1n annoying with The Nation and The Empire, its because they are in the East Coast

  4. Eastern Seaboard Programming Network.

I'd love to see both the Yanks and Red Sox out of the playoffs. It'd be a dream come true.

  5. mlb does not care who makes the playoffs, they represent all the teams

  6. The Yankees will miss the playoffs. They are just not very good. Too old and too banged up. Expect a fire sale in the off season.

Wildcard will come down to Chicago, Boston or Minnesota. IMO Tampa will take the east.

  7. I really can't wait till the Yankees realize they don't have a shot. Getting rid of Joe Torre was a big mistake. The Yankees have made it to the playoffs the last like 15 years. I really want to see the face on all my friends at school when they can't watch the Yankees in October

  8. This is what I hate about sports. The networks rooting for the big- name teams. There is nothing more exciting and refreshing than seeing a new face in the crowd. The Rays!! Sure, this probably isn't good for TV ratings. But for the fans, who hate seeing the Red Sox and Yanks every year...this is fun.

I'm a huge Cleveland fan. Last year, we were up 3 games to 1 against Boston in the ALCS. Colorado was already in the world series. I remember watching Jim Rome on tv one day talking about how horrible it would be if the Indians were in the World Series. How it would just completely ruin the whole season and how nobody would care about the W.S. Watching that got me so angry.

What about the big fans from each team? Is it such a crime if the Yankees or Red Sox aren't in the world series?

I can't stand how those teams are always the ones getting the attention. It can be really frustrating. I hope no team from the east coast makes the world series

  9. I think the Yankees missing the playoffs actually creates more excitement.  Nobody knows what's going to happen---sure there's favorites like the Cubs and Angels but I think there's going to be more of a buzz than usual just because the Yankees and maybe even Red Sox miss the playoffs.
