Question:

How bad does a 2 look?

I am thinking of applying to colleges like Bates, Colby and other fairly elite small liberal arts schools. I got a 2 on my AP exam for english. How bad does this look and how much does it effect my chances. Are their any ways to cancel the grade so colleges dont see it or prove that I just had a really bad test day?

  1. AP scores dont count against you for college admissions

they dont look at that so you dont have anything to worry about

One thing they will see and compare you to other students is that you took the initiative to take an AP rather than just an honors class

  2. Schools don't see your AP scores until they've already accepted you to their school - so it basically has no affect on you getting into college. All they can see is whether or not you've taken AP classes.

  3. unless you send your AP scores to them, the colleges can't see your grades. If you send one, however, you send them all. A 2 is not a good grade to have a college see, 3 is the lowest score to be considered "passing." You can take AP exams twice by the way, and since english doesn't involve much studying, its one of the few where it might be useful to do so

  4. the fact that your in ap is good and looks better than not being in ap classes. i think that a 2 is fine! not everyone is going to get 3 or 4's, dont stress it too much at least you were in an ap class and took the test.

  5. It, of course, doesn't look as great as a 5 but it doesn't hurt your chances of getting into the college.  It still shows that you are serious about your future by the fact that you took an AP class and also took the AP exam for that class.  And you did work hard enough to at least get a 2, so its not terrible.  Besides, colleges only see your AP exam results if you specifically send them via collegeboard.
