Question:

How bad does your eyesight have to be for glasses?

I got a eye check up yesterday.

I have a bit of nearsightedness. The doctor said glasses are still optional.

I have no problem seeing in class. However, I am going to college next year, so the lecture halls will be bigger than my classrooms in high school. So, I am not sure if I'll still be able to see well.

Just wondering what eyesights do people normally start getting glasses

  1. get them

  2. Enough for the difference TO YOU to be worth the cost and inconvenience of having glasses.

It varies from person to person.

I prescribed for someone with a tiny Rx but it made all the difference to him when competing in the world model powerboat championships, though that's the only time he wore his glasses.

Other people don't seen to notice quite marked blurring, and as long as they're legal when they drive, that's their affair.

(Me, I want all the edge I can get for driving: it's the most dangerous thing nearly all of us do.)

Most people would find an Rx of  -0.75  or over useful at least on occasions: lectures, cinema, driving (at least at night)...

The other point is that while your vision may seem OK, you might be surprised about how much *better* it could be.

Trouble is, if  you get to like that sharper sight, then the glasses that provide it become less optional and more necessary, though your eyes won't have become any worse.  It's just that your standard of "OK vision" will have shifted.

  3. I'd suggest getting them.  I have very slight nearsightedness too, where the doctor said the glasses were optional.  I went ahead and got them, and found it useful.  When I'm driving to somewhere new, it makes it easier to see the street signs just a little sooner and made seeing other things a bit easier when you have to be far away.

  4. I'd commend getting them.

  5. Well, I was in your shoes once, just a little nearsighted. I didn't think I needed glasses because I could still see just fine in class. But I eyes started get worse, and fast. I know has 50/75 vision instead of 20/20. I know has corrective lenses. I would suggest getting glasses, just in case. I mean it is your option weather or not to wear them all the time

  6. if you cant read print clearly in a newspaper or magazine you need eyeglasses or contact lens

  7. keep your prescription handy (they are usually good for one year).  if you start feeling eyestrain/headahces after class in college, then get the glasses made.

  8. when you're eye starts getting blur?

personally  I wore glasses even if my eyes weren't blur but I use them for protection when I'm using the computer

    having eyeglasses

    *lessens head-aches

*protects you from computer and TV screens

    *look smarter (lol)

^^^^^^^ it really depends upon the frame of the glass some makes you look like a nerd while others makes you look cute others smart ;)
