  1. Well like most other things it is blown out of proportion. Yes most energy drinks have much more sugar and caffeine than coffee and soda. They usually have a couple of ingredients like tuarine and guarana that are questionable. But having one a day or two at max will not be that bad. The problem is that many of them come in larger cans which is 2 or 3 servings already. That is too much and can be a problem.

    I only use healthy energy drinks and even those I do not really need or use all of the time. I drink plenty of water and get proper nutrition. Therefore I only use energy drinks if I get less than 6 hours of sleep and feel tired or am about to do some exercise.

    Drinking enough water increases your energy and motabolism naturally by 3%. If you feel tired drink 2 glasses of water first. If you feel better after 15 minutes then you were just dehydrated, not tired. If you are still tired then you can try an energy drink. We need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minute of exercise we do. Without proper hydration we feel mentially and physically tired and lethargic. Since caffeine dehydrates us too much will have the same effect. This is why after sodas, coffee, energy drinks, and so on that have caffeine drink a glass of water about 15 - 30 minute after wards.

    At least most energy drinks add juices, for flavor, a few B vitamins and sometimes ginseng. At least this stuff is good for you and won't be found in sodas or coffee. So it seems that at least that can offset the bad stuff a little.

  5. When I was framing, I drank 1 or 2 huge cans of the stuff. It has around 3 grams of Tuarine. That's a lot. After a while, I started getting headaches, and when I stopped drinking them I got mini-withdrawals. They're bad for you, but ok if you need a quick jolt.
