Question:

How bad is AP Chemistry, really?

I am taking AP Literature and Composition, AP Government, and AP Chemistry next year. AP Chemistry is supposed to be like suicide apparently. I got A's in regular chemistry. I didn't take honors chemistry last year (probably should have). Those students are more prepared. Chemistry 1 curriculum was cut last year, so some of the material I won't know as much as the honors chem students.

How bad is it really?

  1. I took AP Chemistry without even a regular class, and I still got a 100 in the class and a 5 on the exam.  It's definitely doable because you pretty much just relearn everything anyways, so if you stay focused, keep up with your work, ask questions, and so on, you should be fine, especially since you've done well in your previous chemistry class.

  2. I had no problems with it whatsoever.  Like the first poster said, the first bit of the class is just review anyway, so you should be able to catch up.  Just don't panic, pay attention, and do your homework and it should be just fine.  Chemistry is fun, just remember that!
