How bad is eating mold even if it had been cooked in the oven?

My sons and I were eating garlic bread at dinner, after we had all eaten my son noticed a spot of mold on an uneaten portion of his garlic bread. The bread had been in the freezer previously and then we cooked it in the oven at 420 degrees for 10 minutes. Do we still have a high chance of becoming ill or will it be reduced because the mold was frozen and then cooked?

  1. Eating molded bread is not healthy, but it is not a severe threat or dangerous .

Most molds do not survive the acid, in your stomach.

If you do not experience immediate effects, upset stomach in 24 hours , or diarrhea within 3 days. Probably, nothing will happen.

But if you experience the symptoms, contact your doctor and he will give you, the adequate antibiotics,to treat the infection.

Not all are bad, molds are used to make certain kinds of cheeses and can be on the surface of cheese or be developed internally. Blue veined cheese such as Roquefort, blue, Gorgonzola, and Stilton are created by the introduction of P. roqueforti or Penicillium roqueforti spores. Cheeses such as Brie and Camembert have white surface molds. Other cheeses have both an internal and a surface mold. The molds used to manufacture these cheeses are safe to eat.

  2. if its cooked you should'nt become ill

  3. Actually eating moldy bread will not make you sick.

It is unappealing, but does not cause illness.

  4. You won't get ill from cooked bread mold.

But sometimes garlic bread contains parsley flakes( which people sometimes confuse with mold( when cooked it can look like a spot of mold).

The reason I'm saying this is because we use to put parsley flakes on our homemade garlic bread in our retail store and sometimes people would call and say it was moldy.

When they returned it, we saw it was the parsley and stopped adding it as an ingredient.

  5. Mold is not all bad some cheese is made by using mold. Penicillin is a mold found on bread a long time ago and it kept people from dieing of infections. your bread had Penicillin on it and you killed it. Your fine

  6. Generally, even eating moldy bread without cooking it won't make you ill. Most molds are harmless, and some we even consume intentionally. The blue part of blue cheese? Mold. Penicillin? Derived from mold. There are more, of course. In any case you'll be fine.
