i remember when i was little i used to do karate and in elementary they always made you sit crosslegged. but i havent done it in a long time and i absolutely cannot sit crosslegged properly at all. the most flexible thing i can do is just bend over and reach my toes which is sad.

is that normal for a guy tho? i feel like every young person can sit crosslegged. what methods do pple use to build up to it?

  1. This is actually very normal for a guy, try stretching, doing squats but just sit there don't do it repetitively then gently drop to the floor in a side ways split, as far as you go until it is a little painful, keep doing it and eventually you will loosen up your joints and muscles enough to be able to cross your legs, or at least put one leg bent and on top of the opposite knee, good luck!

  2. You need to do core exercises to build your abdominals & stretching exercises.

Try lying on your back, take a towel , wrap around your arch pull your leg up straight as far as it will go (other leg straight & flat on floor) for a count of 30.  Switch legs.

Leg lifts:  Bend one leg with bottom of foot flat...with other leg straight, lift it to height of knee & lower...do slowly & point toes toward head.  Do for 30 reps each leg.

    Walk 15 minutes/day.

Practice sitting crossed legged as far as you can then push a bit more on each time.  Do 3 sets of 10.

    Good luck

  3. Have you gained weight? Maybe that is why?

I tried for ages in karate classes to do the splits and never could. Some people are more flexible than others.
