  1. some one had said somalia, but that is in the sahara  desert  unless you are going to be accosted by parrot yeilding one eye patch wearing arabs on camels   then i dont think you will have too much to worry about there unless of course youre shipwrecked. and lets face it you wouldnt be a very good skipper if you are in any desert.......

  2. dont think theres any seeing as all the countries control parts of the sea now so pirates would have no where to escape, think they just all emigrated to land!

  3. It is still a problem,  more just outside the coastal waters,  definitly around the horn of africa, and

    indonesa.

They don't dress as stupid, but they do steal cargo.

  4. I'd say. Its not likely to happen than it was in the past

    but it does happen

but these pirates and drug addicts, rapists and carry guns ect ect.

I'd hate to be pirated in these days.

  5. Hazardous off the coast of Somalia.  A current tactic is to hijack a boat and bring it in to Somalian territory (out of international waters), making other parties reluctant to intervene.  The crew are then held to ransom.

  6. In 15 years of sailing l've only been on a ship hit once.   At anchor they climbed up the chain and stole some tools and threw a liferaft over, then jumped.   Would love'd to have thrown a large shackle into the boat they lowered stuff to, but couldn't throw that far.

  7. Guns don't go anywhere with out them automatic Shot guns AK-47's and Barrett 50 Cal as a deck gun with explosive armor piercing ammo. Side arms Sig Sauer p229's or Colt Arms model 1911 45 cal.  Got a Howitzer? there are drug runners and bad people out there. Who would like to take your boat and set you a float on a rubber raft and use you for target practice. Be ready for anything in international waters.

  8. I think there must be people bootlegging dvd's at sea all over the place :P

  9. Very common indeed in places like Somalia, and some places around South America. More common than most realise. It never went away.

  10. arrrr jim lad...theres one of two of us still around

  11. p****y has changed from the "arrr me harties" time. there are certain groups that will target and hijack boats and ships in order to steal their cargo and / or passengers. p****y has shifted from the Carribean Islands to more Asian waters and around the Middle East. These numbers are in no way as large as the hordes of pirates in the sixteenth century...

  12. Kicker should check his map. Somalia has a lot of coast.

Malacca Straits have a lot of p****y. High speed boats, machine guns, flak jackets; they board big ships without waiting for it to stop, kill any crewman resists.
