How bad is soda for you?

I drink a 12 pack a day.

i was just wondering if thats hazardous to my health.

  1. Soda if consumed in moderation is not bad for you. It is not good for you either. A 12 pack a day is way too much and definitely is not in moderation. Therefore it is bad.

    It has tons of sugar and caffeine. If it is dark it has colorings which can also do harm in large numbers.

    Sugar in large amounts will increase your weight and this can result in diabetes.

    The caffeine is real high too. Sodas normally have from 30-50mg of caffeine per serving. A can has 1.5 servings in it. The maximum safe level of caffeine intake we can have a day is 300mg. So even if you had one that only has 30mg then a whole 12 pack would give you 540mg of caffeine. That is nearly double the amount of the maximum safe level.

    Caffeine dehydrates us, depletes us of B vitamins and calcium. When dehydrated we become tired and lethargic. Many people who drink too much caffeine become tired from being dehydrated so they think the answer is more caffeine. That is bad. Plus the B vitamins are essential for energy too. So now with dehydration and depleted B vitamins high level caffeine users have real problems with energy levels.

    Dehydration can also cause sleeping problems, headaches, other muscular aches and pains, and  feeling tired and lethargic. Those are just short term problems from a day or so of it. Long term problems of dehydration cause mental problems since the brain has a higher percentage of water than the rest of the body, it can lead to kidney problems, skin problems, and other organ problems. You will also have a high level of toxins in your body as there is not enough water to wash them out.

  3. um a twelve pack thats 120 grams of sugar which is a lot

    and 1800 calories which is preaty much the amount you should consume in one day

  5. i would say a 12 pack a day is a bit extreme. i know some people get gasey if they drink too much. and it also rots your teeth if your drink regular. plus all the presevres and junk. but a couple a day won't kill you..

  6. Dude trust me I used to drink more soda but I barely drink any none. You feel way better after drinking like water or something than after drinking a soda. Trust me, you just feel better.  If I was you I just woudn't drink any soda anymore.

As far as I know it's not "hazardous" as you say, BUT I do know that it has absolutely NO nutritional value and it dries you out from the inside (strips your bones of calcium) because of all the caffeine and acidity. I am bad at drinking pop too - I'm a Diet Coke fein! I'm trying to drink more water...lol

    Yeah, I'd say that a 12 pack of soft drink would be hazardous, to your health, especially when most experts say recommend less than one every two days. Whupps!

    -Also, soda contains phosphoric acid, which is the same acid used in batteries. You might be interested to know that when you guzzle down some soft drink, your body tries to neutralise the acid by taking calcium from your bones! However, the calcium and the acid form calcium deposits around your body which take ages to get rid of- soft drink actually causes diseases like kidney stones, gall stones, etc.

    -Also, an acidic environment in your body is more likely to contract cancer... cancers like acidic environments!

    -Acid in your mouth can also wear away your teeth... which ain't good. You wanna give a girl a dazzling smile!

    -It causes osteoporosis

    -Sugar in the soft drink causes obesity, diabetes, etc.

    -Addiction

    Soda is literally carbonated sugar water. A twelve pack a day is bad for you, genius.

Depends on the soda.  Let's say Coke.  It has caffeine, Sugar and Phosphoric acids.  Caffiene is self limiting but does do damage.  I believe it's associated with heart problems.  corn syrup is associated with obesity, diabetes and tooth decay.  Phosphoric acid is associated with damage to your bones.
