Question:

How bad is sprinkler water on a new wood fence?

Hi from Ohio. Just installed new rail fence (pressure-treated wood so we can't stain for 9 months). Neighbor puts his sprinkler right next to it, and allows a good amount of water to hit (eventually soak) it for hours at a time.

Big deal? or am I overreacting? I've kindly asked him to stop & he says I'm being petty.

  1. If this fence continues to stay wet all the time from his sprinkler water it will turn moldy. Mold is very hard to remove from pressure treated lumber. Also if he continues to do this it will never dry out enough to stain. Explain to him you are trying to dry out the fence so you can stain it (he doesn't have to know you are  staining it for nine months) and please move the sprinkler somewhere else. Then get ready to watch you neighbor turn into a real ***. Sorry for your problem. I hate neighbors that's why I moved to the sticks.
