  1. With the wrong tires, all cars are bad in the snow.  With proper winter tires, and an experienced winter driver, the Mini Cooper is great in the snow.  Larger heavier cars get stuck deeper and are harder to get out.  Take it from me, I have 42 years driving experience in winter country, in cars from subcompact to full-size, rear wheel drive and front wheel drive.

  2. It depends on the tires... If you have a good set of winter tires installed, then a Mini is a great little winter car.  If you insist on running high-performance sport or summer tires on snow and ice, then you'll probably crash and burn.

  3. not too great.. small car. not the best traction

    otherwise not a bad car

  4. They handle just fine in moderate winter weather, but obviously don't handle well in thick snow. For that you need a 4x4.

They have front wheel drive and traction control, which is very important. However the key for driving in the snow in any vehicle (even 4x4s) are the tires.

Slap some good winter tires on and they will drive and handle quite a bit better that the average car.

  5. Very good.

My sister in law in Illinois just bought one in Jan traded in an Nissan Altima and its been much better. They've had a lot of show this year one storm was 14 inches and it went everywhere. The Continental tires are much better than they used to be in years past.
