I am specifically interested in Kathmandu? Is it worth the trip or should I wait until fall?

  1. The Kathmandu is situated at an altitude of 1310m with annual rainfall generally exceeding 1300mm. On an average, about 80% of the precipitation occurs during monsoon period (June-September). Kathmandu's average rainfall (after 2000) for July and August are 365 and 319 mm respectively. Hence, July and August are wettest months in Kathmandu. If you love rainfall, floods and people's activities during this period then it is best time. Some of the activities during this time are paddy cultivation, cows festival (Gai jatra), hindu women festival etc.  In traveller's tone, July and August are 'off season' period in Nepal. The best time to see the nature and beauty of the country is just after August.
