Question:

How bad was War Pass today?

He finished dead last, but he had a horrible trip. Not only at the beginning, but at the turn and basically the whole way through. Plus, it was only his second race off the layoff. Do you think those are valid excuses, or do you just think less of him after the Tampa Bay Derby?

  1. he will be back.....did not take track......

  2. I think he just had a bad day and an unlucky trip.I also watched the race twice and he was agitated in the gate.He is still a great horse. We all have bad days.

  3. I am not counting him totally out, but then I do not expect another Breeder's Juvenile winner like Street Sense to take the Derby two years in a row.  But anything can happen.

  4. I watched the race a couple of times. He got pinched back at the start, got bumped a bit and had to check in traffic, but I didn't see any major misshap that caused him to run so poorly. I just think that War Pass ran a lousy race today. I also felt that after 6 wins in a row, he might regress.

  5. as much as we want to we cant make excuses. every  year we all have that special horse.....then after 1 or 2 moths of derby prep races they come out with a performance like that. I am not counting the horse out. I think he is a derby winner. I know its early to say but thats my opinion
