I smoke about 15 a day. Obviously I will give up when I get pregnant and am trying to cut down now. But how much of an affect does it have on trying to get pregnant?

  1. when i was ttc with my first child i was smoking alot and still fell pregnant some ppl say it does decrease your chances of falling pregnant because the toxic stuff in the smoke kills some of the sperm but i had no problem all of my friends that smoke that have had children they have concieved not only once but twice even though they smoked so its hard to say do what you think is best for yourself if you wanna keep smoking keep smoking but if you wanna quit do so but when you concieve quit than i did it made me feel alot better with myself

    baby dust

  2. You will easily get pregnant but the health of the child is what you should worry about so i would not smoke at all while trying to actually get pregnant.

  3. It effects fertility alot, men and women! If you want a better chance of getting pregnant the best thing you can do is not smoke.

  4. I ended up having 3 healthy beautiful children. That's how much it affected me. I'm a pack and a half a day smoker too.

  5. i personally do not think smoking affects your chances. i was smoking 2 packs a day almost and then i got pregnant with my second son. with my first i was smoking a pack a day. but i quit when i found out and yes i quit again. but nope, it doesnt affect your chances.

  6. Smoking is extremely bad for you. They are still finding out how bad it is.

When I quit, I was smoking 4 packs a day. That was 20 years ago. Its VERY hard to quit.

  7. I doubt it affects fertility much, i know SOOO many mums who smoked prior to having their child!

I smoked before i got pregnant. i swore blind I'd stop, but when it came to it, it wasnt as easy as that! When I went to the doctor, she asked me how much I was smoking. I told her 10 a day.

She smiled, and was lost for words. She reckoned 10 wasnt that bad and I may as well stop if it was only 10.

Personally i feel 10 is as bad a 40 a day when your pregnant, but stopping is easier said than done, especially when you're in the habit of it!

However if you really cant stop, the midwife and doctors CAN prescribe you patches if you really really need it.

  8. I smoked 10 a day when i was ttc i gave up as soon as we got a positive test which took 2 months from the start of ttc so it obviously didn't effect me :) if you are trying get some pre seed lubricant we used it and it could have been the reason we caught on so quick :)
