How badly does the tax levels affect people in Montreal?

Are people generally struggling to make ends meet in Montreal due to the very high rates of tax? I'm thinking of coming for 2 years from Australia on a working holiday visa. Will I be subjected to even more tax?? Thanks for any answers!

well lets just say you're taxed on tax. Taxes are pretty high here. And you do need to know french or else it wil be VERY hard for you.
