  1. It is a completely "dead" planet that may have once supported complex forms of life. As to regards of future colonization, it will never be habitable due to its current ecology !


  2. small, cold, dry, CO2 atmosphere, currently uninhabitable by humans.  Kind of reddish.  CO2 and H2O polar icecaps.  Currently undergoing slight global warming.

Very little atmosphere, cold temperatures (though it can trap its own heat), little moonlight, barren with numerous volcano's and valleys.  You will have to bring your own breathable air, since Mars has none.  You also may need to get used to the low gravity on Mars compared to earth.  Did I also mention that Mars  has little to see but rocks, dust, rocks, hills, and more rocks?  It does have an interesting landscape though, similar to Earths, and the composition of parts of the planet are quite fascinating.  We believe there may even have been liquid water on the planet at one time.
