How big a thorn is rafael nadal in roger federer's flesh?

HUGE thorn! They've played 18 times, and Nadal's won 12 times!! They're the main rivals of the tennis world, being the world number one and two respectively.  Nadal used to be dominant on clay only, but winning Wimbledon's changed everything. He's taken Roger's throne. But both players acknowledge each other's strengths and weaknesses. Its great for tennis! :)

More than just a thorn, Rafa is in Federer's head, awake and probably asleep, Rafa is a "presence" for Federer.

I had read an interview that Federer gave, and he basically said Nadal deserves to be #1.  He also said that if he ever lost #1 he wanted to loose it ONLY to someone that worked hard and played outstanding.  He said that Nadal did all this, and he is happy for him.  

BUT, dont count Roger out, his play in the doubles at the Olympics was OUTSTANDING Federer.  I havent seen him that happy on a court in a long time.  Expressing emotion, which I think he needs to let go of more in singles.  He was phenomenal.
