How big do rabbits get? Does it depend on the breed?

It depends on the breed. There are small and large breeds.

they can get between 2.5 and 20 pounds. it does vary by breed.

It depends quite a lot on the breed, actually.  Some mature to 3 pounds or less, some are quite large (think small dog-sized).  Take a look at the breed chart here: http://www.arba.net/Breeds.htm  It gives maximum weights for each breed.

Add: Which breed is it?  I can easily find the breed standard with expected adult size.  I know there are a couple of breeds not yet recognized by the ARBA
