How big do you think a slug can get?

Here on the west coast it isn't unusual to see slugs that are six inches long when they're stretched out and moving. I bet there are bigger ones somewhere in the world.

I agree with the other answer.  The best way to get rid of them is to get some cheap beer, but it in a shallow container and place it overnight in the garden where you see damage. They will go for the beer and drown.

In this weather and in my backyard?  I'd say about an inch and a half!!
