  1. This is debateable, but probably around 40 inches if you are sitting at a normal distance from the tv. If you are right up next to it the number gets lower. It must be an HDTV of course.

  2. 30 inches is where you see a real percievable difference in Blu Ray and Standard DVDs.....

  3. It's not just screen size but also where you sit and the resolution of the screen.

Blu-ray is potentially superior to DVD in at least three areas: detail, colour and sound quality.

The degree to which Blu-ray will be visibly more detailed than DVD -- which is the focus of your question -- is a variable, from not at all on any size SDTV, to barely detectible on a sub-30" 720p HDTV, to more noticeable on a 40"+ 720p vs an upconverting DVD player, all the way to significantly better on a 40"+ 1080p HDTV vs a DVD on a normal progressive (not upconverting) player.  The distance you watch at also matters (See the article at the link for details), as does the movie itself. Some -- particulalry those with grain or special visual effects on the original film -- may not look that much better even under the best conditions. A factor to consider is that most newer movies are released on DVD and Blu-ray based on the same masters and often look very good in DVD (so good that in many cases consumers are not tempted to buy the Blu-ray version because the improvement is not sufficiently compelling to justify the average $11 higher price..

Colour should be superior on a Blu-ray disk on any screen (The Blu-ray standard requires a different (broader range) colour space than DVD) but some people are not particularly sensitive to this and don't notice.

Audio tracks on Blu-ray disks are usually available with advanced audio formats (e.g. Dolby Digital Plus, or Dolby TrueHD), but these require a good audio system to appreciate.

  4. You have to get a HD TV . IT DOESN'T MATTER WHT SCREEN SIZE  you're tv is just as long as it's HD and it has 1080p.

Blueray - you have to have a blueray Player 1st and it's tclass of it's own , Dvd is no where near as clear Blueray .
