How big/important is Amnesty International?

there is a possibility that i will have an internship there in the next year. i was just wondering, how big are they? like in terms of name recognition. is Amenesty International one of major organizations fighting for human rights (including women and prisoners)?

Amnesty International has instant name/brand recognition, probably more than any other organization focused on human rights.

Its a bit smaller then big but yet bigger then small.

Amnesty International is VERY big and VERY important. AI is globally recognized at THE leading organization for human rights. Prisoners have been known to be released within hours of an AI campaign being declared. Oppressors hear that Amnesty International is going to be applying political pressure and they tremble!!!!  Even if you do not get an internship with AI, I highly recommend joining with us on "letter writing" campaigns and other Human Rights activities.

There was a time when they did, but that time seems to have past, check the current activity....
