How big is a D&D board? I'm trying to make one myself with my own designs. How many squares are on the board?

  1. Dungeons and Dragons does not use a gameboard in the conventional sense. Miniatures placed on a surface that contains a square or hexagonal grid may be used to help the players visualize what is going on. Using figures and a playing surface is optional and often the game is played without them. The gamemaster will decide what visual aids to use based on how elaborate a presentation one chooses.

  2. What Ludo said.  But, on the off chance you are actually referring to the D&D Miniatures game, the normal boards are 21 x 30 squares, with each square being 1".

If you want a custom made board to use with D&D, you would be best off making a modular set of rooms and corridors; corridors both 1 and 2 squares wide would be useful, with lengths of 3-5 squares.  3x3 rooms and 5x5 rooms would be good basic sizes.  Whatever you do, you probably want to stick to 1" squares, since that is what the figures are designed for.

    Good gaming!
