I'm really surprised at how varied the answers here are.  This really isn't even a debate.  Coin-op bar tables in America are almost always 3 1/2' X 7'.  In fact, personally I've never seen anything else.  I'm fairly certain that this question was in reference to coin-op tables most commonly found in bars, hence the reference to "bar pool tables".  He didn't ask what sizes were common in pool halls or in private residences.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

    8 Foot Table Size: 4' x 8'

  4. The standard size bar-boxes are 3 1/2 x 7. In all the pool leagues I've played they required that size. Occasionally we would play in a location that had a 4 x 8, and one place even had two 4 x 8 over-sized with the larger cue ball.

    But going back to your question: 3 1/2 x 7 is the standard in the United States.

  7. it totally depends on what the bar owner wants to put in. there is no "official" size. regullations refer to dimension (half as wide as lenght), rail heigth,etc...there is 7'-39'x78" 8'-44x88 8'oversized-46x92 9'-50x100...snooker tables are 10',11'.&12' the most common household table is 8' there are also 6' tables!!! i've put MANY of all sizes in and recovered even MORE the pro men use 9' the pro ladies 8os
