  1. more like a mall.

  2. DUSIE HAS IT RIGHT, ALTHOUGH SOME SHIPS ARE BIGGER, AND NEWS ONES TO COME ARE EVEN BIGGER THAN THAT...

  3. It depends on the cruise. I am going on the dawn princess, this ship is smaller, than the holland america ships. A cruise ship is about 10 houses, 1 1/2 football fields, and 1/2 mall, depends on the mall size?

  4. I have cruised on the current world's largest cruise ship, the Freedom of the Seas.  It has two twin sisters called the Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas.  These Freedom Class ships are like this:

    Passenger Capacity: 3,634 double occupancy

    Gross Tonnage: 160,000

    Length: 1,112'

    Max Beam: 184'

    Draft: 28'

You could put not only a house but a small housing development on this ship.  Its long enough and wide enough to have 3 football fiends and have some space left for a soccer field.  These ships all have a pedestrian mall down the center with shops and restaurants and once a week they have a parade down the mall.  Its easily as large as many strip malls.  Take a look at the ships using the "virtual our" feature:

Now Royal Caribbean also has a bigger ship to be launched next year called Oasis of the Seas.  Take a look at it on this web link:  http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/

Its even bigger than the Freedom Class ships and has these dimentions:

    # 220,000 GRT

    # 7 neighborhoods

    # 5,400 guests

    # 2,700 staterooms

    # 16 decks high

  5. Not only are they as big as a mall they actually have one on board, including bars, restaurants, movies, and stage shows, as well as a 1000 room hotel.

  6. Each cruise ship can be different so I'll pick one to use for comparison. The largest ship I've been on is the Carnival Valor. She is 952 ft. long (so thats almost 10 football fields long) by 116 ft wide (more than the length of a football field). She carries a max. of 3710 passengers and 1150 crew. There are 13 levels (floors) that passengers are allowed on. There are many levels for crew and mechanicals. When we sailed she was full to capacity. It was a wonderful time.

  7. The cruise ships are so big, that you need a map for the first few days to find your way around. Several football fields long is just an estimate. You can walk all the way around on the promenade deck and that is about 1/2 mile. On Princess it is deck 7. Think of it more as a large hotel with several restaurants, a gym, several pools and hot tubs. two or more theaters, a casino, and several bars to enjoy the time.

  8. A large cruise ship is about as long  as 30 houses plus lots, or 3 football fields end to end, and about the size of an average size 3-story mall. They are quite large.

    Dan
