How big is a modem for Verizon DSL service?

I have a laptop, and I have only ever had dial-up Internet service. I've never needed a modem. My town is now getting Verizon DSL, and I want to know how big the modem would be, as I don't have room for something large on my desk - that's one reason I have a laptop. If it's going to be huge, I may just stay with dial-up.

I don't know about Version DSL but I have Mediacom Cable and my modem is only about the size on 2 poptarts stacked up on top of each other. I also do like having wires and large bulky hardware on desk so what I did was I put my modem under my desk so it would be in the way.

But if you don't want to do that you could always get a wireless router and hook it up to the modem and them put both the modem and router some where out of site and just get wireless internet on you laptop and then you can go anywhere in your house with it.
