I'm from England where football (soccer) is very big, as it is in most nations. However how much is it talked about, and do people know about it in the USA? I know you have the MLS, but is there a lot of news on world football in your country etc?

Thanks

  1. I'm in London and have heard that Soccer is massive in the USA - bigger in fact that Europe and Brazil combined.  But it is still not a majority game - which remain American Football and Baseball.

Don't want to scare you, but the really big money is now in Indian One day Cricket - it made more money on day one than the Euro-cup made in 40 years.  It's all to do with numbers in the population.  America now has a pop of 300-million and God alone knows how many folk there are in India.  But, just to give you an idea, there are an estimated 200-million members of the Indian Middle Class alone. . .Yahoooo!

  2. Although the mainstream media (like ESPN) doesn't really notice, there are options for fans, and there are plenty of football fans in America.

With the internet, following your favorite team is just a click away. And we have digital cable channels specifically for football, like Gol TV and Fox Soccer Channel.

There are plenty of soccer fans in the USA. This is mainly because of the large amount of immigrants who love the game and it is a connection to the "old world".

Also, more kids play soccer than american football in the USA.

It is also a bit of a fad among "hipsters" and college kids, especially with the arrival of David Beckham.

  3. barly hear anything about it   in US  mostly football//basketball
