  1. The total area of Greenland measures 2,166,086 km² (836,109 sq mi)

  2. Area not ice covered: 410,449 km² (158,433 sq mi)

    + Area of Greenland Ice Sheet: 1,755,637 km² (677,676 sq mi)

    ======================================...

    Total Area of Greenland: 2,166,086 km² (836,109 sq mi)

  3. --- It is obviously easy enough to google the number. When you are thinking about area, always look at a Robinson projection (40 years old) instead of the more common Mercator projection (centuries old). A Mercator projection is easier for navigation. A Robinson projection does a better job of preserving area (a globe preserves area perfectly, but it is awkward to carry around).

    -- The projection show the area not covered by ice on the west side. Leif Erickson, sailed back and forth from Norway, to Iceland, to his father's settlements in the ice free parts of Greenland. Unlike his father he took it one step further and crossed the couple of hundred miles of ocean to start settlements in North America (island of Newfoundland).

    - This happened 1000 years ago. It was only verified in the 1960's when an old village was discovered with unmistakeable viking artifacts.

  4. Greenland, due to their location nearer one of the poles, is hard to proportion on a flat map.  Look at a globe instead.

    Australia, at more than 7m sq kms, is several times larger than Greenland, but on many projections, Greenland appears larger.

  5. Total area = 2175600 Sq. Km

    (Icefree = 341700 Sq.km & Icecovered = 1833900 Sq.Km)

  6. Total area of Greenland is 2,166,086 km² {836,109 sq mi} &

    out of which ice blanket covers the area of Greenland is 1,755,637 km2(677,676 sq mi) (approx 81 %)

    Greenland is having coastline which is of 39,330 km (24,430 m) long & about the same length as  Earth's circumference at the Equator.

    Highest point on the Greenland is Gunnbjorn which is at 3,694 metres (12,119 ft) height.

    The weight of the massive Greenlandic ice cap has depressed the central land area to form a basin lying more than 300 m (1,000 ft) below sea level

  7. The total area of Greenland measures 2,166,086 km² (836,109 sq mi), of which the Greenland ice sheet covers 1,755,637 km² (677,676 sq mi) (81%). The coastline of Greenland is 39,330 km (24,430 mi) long, about the same length as the Earth's circumference at the Equator. The highest point on Greenland is Gunnbjørn at 3,694 metres (12,119 ft).

    The weight of the massive Greenlandic ice cap has depressed the central land area to form a basin lying more than 300 m (1,000 ft) below sea level.[10] The ice flows generally to the coast from the center of the island.

    All towns and settlements of Greenland are situated along the ice-free coast, with the population being concentrated along the Western coast. The northeastern part of Greenland, which includes sections of North Greenland and East Greenland, is not part of any municipality, but is the site of the world's largest national park, Northeast Greenla
