This is the tank I found in my basement.

I want to put a betta fish with 3-4 neon tetras in it.

How big would you say it is?

(The wheel is for judging purposes, it's a regular, ordinary, hamster/mouse wheel.)

  1. Probably a 10 gallon. What are the measurements?

  2. Looks like 10 gallons to me :)

  3. yes bettas can live in a peaceful community tank, its not stupid.

That is a 10 gallon tank.

    Here's a good idea of what kind of fish you could have in a 10 gallon tank with a betta;

5 White Cloud Mountain Minnows OR 5 Zebra Danios OR if your betta is laid back and won't eat or chase them, 5 Neon Tetras.

No Barbs, larger tetras, or guppies. They will either nip your bettas fins to shreds or when the betta sees a colorful guppy tail it may attack thinking its another male betta.

Whatever fish you decide to get for your tank, please cycle your tank properly.

  4. Definately a 10 gallon. Because it's not a 5 gallon, or a 2.5 or even a 1 gallon.

Don't put a beta fish in there with any other fish.  That's a really stupid idea.

  5. It's definately a 10 just measured mine that was three feet away on the opposite end of my desk. As for betta's and tetra's I would probably advise choosing a less territorial fish than a betta. Honestly I would only use a 10 gallon for a single Betta with a few plants. Just remember a decent rule to follow is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. I think with smaller tanks it should be 1 inch per 2 gallons but thats just my opinion. and if you just found the tank you should definately get yourself a heater and a filtration system and allow the tank to "cycle" for at least thirty days before adding any fish.  A test kit for water conditions is always a good idea to ensure that the cycle is complete and your tank is stable.   The more knowledge the better in this hobby. As cruel as this my seem set up the tank and let it run for atleast a month, and leave him in the bowl for now...

  6. ok do did not specify measurement type

    if you used

metric cm: 2.5 litres or  0.660430131 US gallons

    or if you used

imperil inches: 40.96676 litres or 10.8222731 US gallons

the tetras need to school with at least 6

    hope i helped

also dont keep mountain minnows with betas as they are coldwater
